The explosion in Iran's use of the death penalty is state-sponsored terror, plain and simple. The Islamic Republic is using the gallows to crush dissent, executing protestors, women and foreign nationals after sham trials with zero due process. The international community must demand abolition as a condition of any engagement with Tehran.

Reports such as this on Iran's judicial system are fabricated propaganda, reliant upon anti-Iranian sources, designed to destabilize the country and serve foreign agendas. The truth of the matter is that Iran's legal system follows due process, while charges like assembly against national security don't carry the death penalty at all.
