The Spin

Anti-Russia narrative

A drone hitting an ordinary Kyiv-Warsaw passenger train less than two miles from Poland shows Russia's war is creeping up to NATO's doorstep. Ukraine's skies are Europe's skies, and the stalling on air defenses has gone on long enough. Ukraine needs the resources necessary to block these encroaching civilian attacks; the frozen Russian assets should be seized and the aggressor made to pay for the damage.

Pro-Russia narrative

Western Ukraine rail lines are hauling weapons and military cargo from European capitals to the front, making them legitimate military targets. Logistics hubs, depots and substations serving that supply chain have always been part of the war effort. Especially as Ukraine targets civilians in the borderlands and threatens to down civilian planes, Russia has every right to hit a locomotive supplying these attacks.
