The Spin

Pro-establishment narrative

The changes seen with respect to deaths of U.S. service members comes from the Pentagon working to update the DCAS portal following an internal audit. Previously, entries did not appear until officials completed a thorough verification process. Updates have been made to allow for greater transparency in cases where checks are ongoing.

Democratic narrative

It's welcome that there has been a public correction in relation to the number of deaths of U.S. service members in the Middle East, which has come from congressional oversight. Nonetheless, there's no excuse for a mistake of this magnitude and such errors are a huge disservice to the men and women who risk their lives to serve the U.S. Additional measures are expected to stop mistakes such as these from happening in the future.

Pro-Iran narrative

The Pentagon is almost certainly concealing the true scale of its losses in America's war of aggression against Iran. The American people and the international community deserve the full truth on the impact of this failed imperial campaign.
