Is backing Ukraine with weapons and visits Europe's own self-defense or does arming Kyiv only deepen the ruin?

The Spin

Pro-Ukraine narrative

Standing in Kyiv while drones fly overhead sends a message no statement from a safe distance ever could. Backing Ukraine — joint drone production, weapons deals and shared air defense know-how — makes Germany and all of Europe stronger. The outcome of this war decides whether security on the continent holds, so helping Ukraine is simple self-interest.

Pro-Russia narrative

Every escalation traces back to Kyiv's choice to hit refineries and civilian targets, and responsibility for what follows sits squarely with the leadership that ordered it. Flooding the country with more weapons and foreign fighters only feeds a black market that now fuels fraud and crime from Europe to Africa. More arms shipments mean more ruin, not peace.
