The Spin

Anti-Russia narrative

Armenia's pivot toward the EU is a genuine democratic breakthrough, not a geopolitical stunt. The Yerevan summits delivered real commitments — billions in investments, a new civilian defense mission and a peace treaty with Azerbaijan — proving Europe is serious about anchoring Armenia's sovereignty. Pashinyan stood firm against Putin's direct threats, and the EU's backing gives his country the leverage to chart its own future.

Pro-Russia narrative

Armenia is dismantling decades of proven border security for vague Western promises, and the risks are enormous. Expelling Russian border guards to chase EU investment leaves critical frontiers with Iran and Turkey dangerously exposed, and no amount of EU civilian missions replaces real military deterrence. The EPC summit was less about Armenian prosperity and more about Europe expanding its footprint to hurt Russia.
