The Spin

Greenland's future belongs to Greenlanders and Danes, and nobody else gets a vote on it. The EU just backed that principle with 200 million euros in real investment for connectivity, clean energy and critical raw materials — not vague promises about security. Territorial integrity and the inviolability of borders aren't negotiable just because a bigger power wants an island.

Two hundred million euros is a modest check next to the pressure Greenland is actually facing, and a package spread over two years for tourism, housing and fisheries won't deter anyone circling the Arctic. Real deterrence looks like the troops and Arctic drills that finally forced a retreat from tariff threats. Hard security, not development funds, is what keeps the island out of play.
