EU Parliament Advances US-EU Turnberry Trade Deal

The Spin

The EU Parliament's vote to implement tariff commitments under the U.S.-EU Framework Agreement is a win for transatlantic stability and economic growth. The deal delivers the predictability businesses on both sides of the Atlantic have demanded, even if it's an imperfect starting point. A temporary framework beats escalation, and the path forward should push toward a zero-tariff transatlantic zone.

This trade deal is a lopsided American victory — the EU slashes tariffs on U.S. goods, commits to $750 billion in U.S. energy purchases and $600 billion in other investments, while most EU exports still face a flat 15% tariff. Even outlets hostile to Trump were forced to admit he got everything he wanted and gave almost nothing in return. The deal proves access to the U.S. market is the ultimate leverage.
