The Spin

Acquiring Greenland represents brilliant strategic thinking that would secure critical Arctic resources, counter Russian and Chinese expansion, and establish legal sovereignty over territory already defended by AmericanU.S. forces. Europe owes trillions in unpaid World War I debts that were never legally forgiven,. andCanceling canceling these obligations in exchange for Greenland would give Europe a clean balance sheet while Americathe U.S. gains thean Arctic anchor needed for national security.

Greenlanders have made clear they want to remain under Denmark, not become American territory. The talks in Washington have completely stalled with no compromise possible because the people of Greenland reject this scheme. Denmark and European NATO allies have responded by moving more troops into Greenland to reinforce sovereignty.
