Is this a legitimate security necessity or is Israel quietly creating a permanent partition?

The Spin

Pro-Palestine narrative

Israel is quietly carving Gaza into a permanent partition, building an earthen barrier separating over 50% of Gaza through demolished Palestinian communities, all while the ceasefire stagnates. Israeli forces have killed over 1,100 Palestinians since the truce began, and soldiers admit they don't always know who they're firing at near the unmarked line. What was supposed to be a temporary boundary is hardening into a border, trapping millions in squalid tent camps with no path to return.

Pro-Israel narrative

The buffer zone strategy is the only approach that has actually worked to protect Israeli civilians from constant rocket fire and missile attacks launched from civilian structures. Decades of entering, withdrawing and repeating the same cycle proved unsustainable, and communities like Sderot and Kiryat Shmona deserve real security, not another temporary fix. Creating distance from hostile forces is a legitimate military necessity, not a land grab.
