Is Texas shielding an ICE agent from accountability or protecting an officer from political persecution?

The Spin

Left narrative

No law enforcement officer gets a free pass to shoot into a home and lie about it, and an ICE badge certainly doesn't change that. Abbott's refusal to honor a clear extradition request isn't about protecting public safety, but rather shielding federal agents from accountability at the White House's behest. Castro faces serious charges, and the longer Abbott stalls, the greater the risk he walks free entirely.

Right narrative

Moriarty is a Soros-backed prosecutor trying to criminalize immigration enforcement. Castro was responding to a dangerous, shovel-wielding suspect, so Abbott is right to pump the brakes on handing a federal officer over to a state that has weaponized its legal system against border security. Minnesota wouldn't extradite its criminals to Texas, so Texas certainly shouldn't send this officer to be politically persecuted.
