Is this a welcome security partnership or an unwanted power grab?

The Spin

Establishment-critical narrative

Greenlanders are making it crystal clear that Trump's Arctic power grab is unwanted — roughly 1,000 people flooded Nuuk's streets as the new consulate opened. Greenland's prime minister refused to attend, and the whole charm offensive, MAGA hats and cookies included, fell flat. Greenland is not for sale, and no amount of expanded diplomatic real estate changes that.

Pro-establishment narrative

The expanded U.S. consulate in Nuuk reflects a serious, long-term strategic commitment to Greenland's security and future. The U.S. has ruled out force and that Greenlanders will decide their own destiny. Strengthening America's Arctic footprint is a legitimate national security priority, and a deeper U.S.-Greenland partnership benefits both sides.
