    The Spin

    Right narrative

Even before winning the presidential election, Abelardo de la Espriella pulled off what the Petro government couldn't. Unlike the frozen relations and ideological posturing that have defined Petro's tenure, this is real diplomacy in action. Colombians stand to gain enormously, and that's a win no amount of spin can take away.

    Left narrative

Noboa has weaponized tariffs in a bid to kneecap the Colombian economy and boost his preferred candidates, first Paloma Valencia, then de la Espriella. Now that the Andean Community of Nations ordered a tariff removal, he opted to disguise it as a political favor ahead of the vote, setting a dangerous precedent for the nation.
