The Spin

Climate-concerned narrative

The Amazon is barreling toward a point of no return, and the science is unambiguous — deforestation combined with climate change pushes the tipping point to collapse somewhere between 1.5°C and 1.9°C, a threshold already within reach. Indigenous peoples, who steward 80% of the planet's remaining biodiversity, are the most effective line of defense, and protecting their territories is a survival strategy. The world needs leaders to commit to protecting 80% of the Amazon now, before the window closes entirely.

Climate-skeptic narrative

Amazon alarmism is being weaponized by wealthy nations to keep developing countries poor while dressing up economic self-interest as environmental concern. Deforestation is already 75 to 80% below its early-2000s peak, and blanket claims like "beef destroys the Amazon" erase real geographic distinctions — British cattle grazing Welsh hills have zero connection to Brazilian ranching. Honest environmentalism targets the actual problem precisely, not every steak on every plate across the globe.
