Blair Urges Burnham to Pledge EU Rejoin Within a Decade

Should Britain seek a mandate to rejoin the EU for security and market access, or is that surrendering sovereignty to an overbearing bloc?

The Spin

Left narrative

Clinging to a decade-old vote while the economy bleeds output and tax revenue is stubbornness. The world has changed beyond recognition, and a mid-sized trading nation facing hostile powers and a protectionist neighbor needs the security and market access that only full membership brings. Seeking a mandate to negotiate, then letting parliament ratify, beats another bruising plebiscite.

Right narrative

The bloc on offer today is far more overbearing than the one Britain left, with unelected commissioners policing speech, locking in ruinous climate targets and punishing governments that stray from fashionable leftist orthodoxy. Talk of a reformed Europe is a fantasy that was already tested and humiliated once. Real prosperity lies in regulatory freedom, global deals and Commonwealth ties, not surrender.
