Current tariff levels combined with uncertainty over future tariff levels have created an unmanageable environment for the retail sector, leaving stores like Walmart no choice but to raise prices. In the long run, this will potentially hurt vulnerable low-income shoppers the most during an already challenging economic period.

As recent trade deals and increased demand among U.S. manufacturers show, Trump's tariffs are working. American retailers that choose not to get on board won't be able to blame the president when their bottom line suffers. Instead of bilking the American people, retailers should fall in line with Trump's America First strategies.
