Iran expected to resist US plan to move uranium stockpile to third country
Guardian7 days ago
The US must act decisively to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, as Tehran has already enriched uranium to 60% — dangerously close to weapons-grade levels. A strong verification regime and permanent restrictions on enrichment are essential to ensure regional security. A nuclear-capable Iran is an existential threat to Western-allied Israel.
Iran has consistently maintained its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes and requires guarantees against future U.S. withdrawal from any agreement, given the previous experience of Trump abandoning the 2015 deal. Military threats and pressure tactics will not lead to productive negotiations nor will they deter Iran.
