Romania's Pres. Klaus Iohannis nominated incumbent Marcel Ciolacu as the country's Prime Minister on Monday, following a coalition agreement between pro-European parties.
The coalition comprises the Social Democratic Party (PSD), National Liberal Party (PNL), Hungarian party UDMR, and national minorities, and it controls approximately 54% of parliamentary seats.
The December elections confirmed Romania's pro-European path, with a coalition dedicated to stability and progress despite the many challenges ahead. Amid extremist noise, the government must focus on European integration, economic coherence, and social equity. This is a chance to strengthen Romania's role in a united Europe, delivering real solutions over populist distractions.
The Romanian establishment's alignment with EU elites has eroded democracy and national identity, betraying the values and sacrifices of Romania's ancestors. Instead of addressing the nation's urgent needs, they manipulate institutions to suppress dissent and sideline the people's wishes. This makeshift coalition is merely an attempt to paper over the country's cracks and is destined to fail.
