The Unification Church's decades-long pattern of political infiltration was at the very heart of its doctrine. Internal documents show the church systematically courted politicians across party lines, embedded members in neighborhood committees and dangled national projects to gain leverage. Treating electoral politics as a tool for expanding religious authority is a fundamental threat to democratic governance, and South Korea's investigation is long overdue.
