The Spin

The Unification Church's decades-long pattern of political infiltration wasn't incidental — it was doctrine. Internal documents show the church systematically courted politicians across party lines, embedded members in neighborhood committees and dangled national projects to gain leverage. Treating electoral politics as a tool for expanding religious authority is a fundamental threat to democratic governance, and South Korea's investigation is long overdue.

Prosecuting an 83-year-old religious leader on the testimony of a disgruntled former executive whose story keeps changing isn't justice — it's targeted persecution. The gifts cited amount to less than $250,000, yet prosecutors demanded 13 years, exposing this as political retaliation against conservative religion. Religious freedom loses all meaning the moment authorities get to decide which faiths deserve it.
