The Spin

The Trump administration is handling munitions concerns head-on, rebuilding stockpiles while shifting to newer, less expensive weapons technologies. Supply chain issues stem from Biden-era decisions to drain reserves for Ukraine and Houthi operations — not from mismanagement under Trump. The U.S. military has maintained unfettered air and sea superiority over Iran throughout this conflict, which is the clearest proof that readiness remains strong.

The U.S. has burned through virtually all of its ATACMS and PrSM missiles during the Iran war, and rebuilding those stockpiles could take years given complex supply chains and million-dollar price tags. Defensive interceptor stocks are critically low too, with fewer than 827 Patriot missiles remaining — a gap that directly weakens deterrence against China and Russia. Denying this reality while requesting $18.2 billion in emergency Pentagon funding makes the crisis impossible to dismiss.
