Pessimism about U.S. relations in the region has nearly doubled, and ASEAN nations are increasingly turning toward China and pushing for strategic autonomy. Threatening sovereignty under the banner of freedom of navigation isn't leadership — it's exactly why trust in Washington keeps eroding.
