The EU's €890M fine against Google is a legitimate enforcement of the Digital Markets Act, which prohibits gatekeepers from rigging search results in their own favor and blocking app developers from steering users to cheaper alternatives. Google was caught red-handed boosting its own shopping, hotel and travel results while burying competitors. Fines of €460M and €430M send exactly the right message that market dominance doesn't grant a license to cheat.

The EU's Digital Markets Act is a protectionist weapon disguised as regulation — every single designated "gatekeeper" is American, and not one European company faces equivalent scrutiny. Eighty-three percent of GDPR fines have hit American firms, and EU officials have openly admitted that making U.S. companies "feel the pain" is proof the laws are working. Eliminating these discriminatory fines must be a precondition for any future U.S.-EU trade deal.
