Was Abderrahim Fakir's death a damning police failure or did premature political outrage turn tragedy into chaos?

The Spin

Left narrative

Fakir cried for help repeatedly while pinned face down by officers, and that should have been a clear warning that something was going dangerously wrong. The video evidence and witness accounts make it impossible to dismiss this as routine policing. The rise of anti-migrant sentiment in Italy is extremely dangerous.

Right narrative

Backing a protest before investigators establish the facts is exactly the kind of political irresponsibility that turns grief into violence. Rioters hurled concrete, set a city vehicle on fire, and injured several officers — chaos enabled by elected officials who had prematurely inflamed tensions. Even the Fakir family's own lawyer condemned the rioting.
