Chilean Judge Sentences Three Secret Police Agents Over 1976 DC Murder

The Spin

A Chilean judge delivered long-overdue justice by sentencing three former Pinochet secret police agents to 15 years in prison for the 1976 car bombing murder of American Ronni Karpen Moffitt in Washington, D.C. This ruling proves that accountability for state-sponsored terrorism can prevail even decades later. The U.S. government must now act on Chile's pending extradition request for former DINA agent Armando Fernández Larios, who remains free on American soil.

José Zara Holger already served 15 years for the Prats case without a single piece of evidence and was never even in Buenos Aires. Now he's imprisoned again for the Moffitt attack in Washington — a place he never set foot in — again with zero evidence. Calling this justice is a stretch when convictions rest on nothing provable.
