The Spin

The U.S. is right to pressure China to lean on Iran over the Strait of Hormuz — Beijing has real leverage here and knows it. Iran's blockade has sent global energy prices through the roof, and China's own economy is taking a hit, making Rubio's argument hard to dismiss. Letting Iran keep that chokehold while dodging accountability isn't neutrality, it's enabling.

China is doing the hard diplomatic work that actually prevents wars from spiraling — pushing for ceasefire, backing Iran's sovereignty and nudging both sides toward dialogue. Beijing made clear the Strait of Hormuz must reopen while refusing to let Washington dictate the terms. That's what genuine constructive engagement looks like, not sanctions and naval blockades.
