Meta's new Model Capability Initiative is a smart move to solve a real problem — AI agents need genuine human interaction data to learn how to navigate apps and complete tasks. Tracking mouse movements, clicks and keystrokes on work devices is broadly legal in the U.S., and the data won't be used to evaluate employees. When building tools that help people work smarter, real examples of how humans actually use computers are essential.

Meta is recording employees' every click and keystroke to build AI that will replace them — then laying off 8,000 of those same workers starting May 20. The company is spending up to $135 billion on AI this year, more than the entire business generates, while gutting its workforce. Workers are being used as raw training material for the software that eliminates their jobs, and there's no way to opt out.
