TikTok's ban of far-right Israeli influencer Roi Star barely scratches the surface of a much deeper crisis — settler violence and dehumanization of Palestinians has gone fully mainstream in Israel. A death penalty law targeting non-citizens in occupied territories, celebrated in the Knesset, makes the apartheid framework impossible to deny. Platforms and governments alike are failing to stop a system built to crush Palestinian life.
Settler violence is real, criminal and a direct threat to Israel's national security and international standing — but that's entirely separate from smearing the death penalty law as racist. That law targets non-citizens convicted of terroristic murder, not Palestinians by ethnicity, and has clear grounding in international law. Conflating fringe lawbreakers with state policy is intellectually dishonest and feeds bad-faith narratives.
