The Spin

Pro-Trump narrative

The U.S. has had long talks with Ukrainian and European officials about a peace settlement with Russia and the countries are now the closest they've been to securing a deal. Hopefully it will not be long before this is achieved.

Pro-Ukraine narrative

These talks with the U.S. have not been easy for Ukraine. However, they have been productive and plenty of progress was made. Frankly speaking, Ukraine still has a different point of view on the issue of territory but it is hoped these matters will be settled to achieve a real peace.

Pro-Russia narrative

While Moscow has seen news reports, it has yet to be updated on the issue of security guarantees or the wider state of negotiations by U.S. officials. It will wait for these matters to be officially communicated before offering additional commentary.

Metaculus Prediction

There's a 50% chance there will be a bilateral ceasefire or peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine by April 2027, according to the Metaculus prediction community.
