Canada's decision to foster close defense ties with Europe and, in turn, spurn the U.S. is a big mistake. Instead, Canada would be better off investing more money, not less, in American military equipment. That would strengthen Canada's defense and rectify the country's trade balance with the U.S., immediately addressing President Trump's two main concerns and repairing the relationship between the two nations.
