The Spin

The U.K.-EU reset deal is a pragmatic step forward, ending the self-defeating isolationism of a hard Brexit. It eases trade barriers, boosts gross domestic product (GDP) prospects, and reopens youth mobility. With broad public support for closer ties and economic logic driving reconnection, the deal offers growth, stability, and a refreshed partnership between two neighbors and allies.

Starmer's EU reset is a complete betrayal of Brexit. Surrendering fishing rights and aligning with EU standards enforced by foreign courts, the UKU.K. has traded sovereignty for servitude and has likely damaged its relationship with the U.S. in the process. Driven by ideology rather than common sense, this agreement is nothing more than democratic backsliding disguised within bureaucratic spin.

Metaculus Prediction

There is a 50% chance that the U.K. will apply to rejoin the EU by October 2038, according to the Metaculus prediction community.
