The number of casualties in the Sudan war has exceeded previous estimates. According to a new study from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicines Sudan Research Group, over 60K people have lost their lives in the Khartoum region since the war broke out in April 2023.
According to the report, at least a third of the deaths, or 26K lives were caused by the violence. However, starvation, disease and lack of medical care have emerged as the primary causes of death in Sudan.
