Sudan’s army launches major offensive to retake Khartoum

It has been reported that a military airstrike around a market within the country's capital of Khartoum killed at least 23 people and injured over 40 others on Sunday.

Mohamad Kandisha, a spokesperson for the Southern Belt's response room, claimed that bombing "caused massive destruction that affected a large number of high-rise buildings" around the market area.

The emergency room also claimed that "some" of those injured were in critical condition.  The Sudanese Armed Forces have been using airstrikes as part of an attempt to reclaim territory in the capital currently held by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

According to the Council on Foreign Relations, since the beginning of Sudan's civil war between the two groups  in April 2023, nearly 15K have been killed, nearly 2M have been displaced, and over 25M are in need of humanitarian assistance.
