The Facts

  • It has been reported that a military airstrike around a market within the country's capital of Khartoum killed at least 23 people and injured over 40 others on Sunday.

  • Mohamad Kandisha, a spokesperson for the Southern Belt's response room, claimed that bombing "caused massive destruction that affected a large number of high-rise buildings" around the market area.

  • The emergency room also claimed that "some" of those injured were in critical condition. The Sudanese Armed Forces have been using airstrikes as part of an attempt to reclaim territory in the capital currently held by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
