While it will no longer control OpenAI's main business operations, the nonprofit, which was founded in 2015 as an AI research organization, will still have a minority stake in the company.
Once given for-profit status, the current cap on returns for OpenAI investors will be abolished, with some estimating the corporation will be worth upwards of $150B after the restructuring.
