On Monday, The board of trustees at the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill voted unanimously to divert all $2.3M allocated for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs towards campus safety initiatives.
UNC-Chapel Hill is taking a big step in ridding higher education of the noxiousdivisive DEI ideology. Any worldview that reduces people down to their race, gender, or sexual orientation is anathema to the ideals of individualism that have built this country. The recent anti-Israel protests on campus have also done much to expose this flawed "oppressed-oppressor" dualism as hateful and tribal.
The Republican assault of on diversity programs will hurt all of us in the long run. By conjuring up an imagined "woke" menace, the GOP has found an excuse to gut the funding of higher education and limit academic freedom bywhile restrictingconcerningly whatboosting schoolsmilitarized canpolice andcapabilities cannoton sayits campus.
