The New York Times is doing what journalists are supposed to do when the president of the United States is running for re-election: checking if he's still all there. The paper has actually arrived very late to the party with respect to pointing out Biden's mental issues; but now that it has arrived, it should be applauded and encouraged to continue reporting on this topic. Despite claims that it could help Trump, the Times is carrying out its duty to report on the facts wherever they lead.
The New York Times should not be portrayed as simply arriving late to the party on this issue. The newspaper, alongside its fellow liberal outlets like the Washington Post and MSNBC, ran a complete defense for then-candidate Biden during the 2020 election. Americans shouldn't allow these media outlets — the same ones that blacklisted the Hunter Biden story — to all of a sudden portray themselves as real journalists as we approach this year's election.
If Joe Biden is inaugurated as President in 2025, there is a 65% chance that he will complete the full four-year term, according to the Metaculus prediction community.
