William A. Galston is a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, holding the Ezra K. Zilkha Chair in Governance Studies, and is a contributing columnist for The Wall Street Journal. He served as Deputy Assistant to President Bill Clinton for Domestic Policy from 1993 to 1995 and has authored nine books and hundreds of articles on political theory, public policy, and American politics
