Zuckerberg's open-source branding is a bait-and-switch: he advocates for it, but ships something very different — open-weight models that hide the training data and code needed for real scrutiny. What's more, the risk that they are misused by bad actors is far too high. An open-weight model is the worst of both worlds: few guardrails with no insight into the inner workings. No model, open or closed, should be exempt from scrutiny.
