Would an Easter ceasefire be a good sign for diplomacy or are more meaningful steps needed to achieve real peace?

The Spin

Pro-Ukraine narrative

Ukraine had positive conversations with the U.S. about how to strengthen its diplomacy, as well as what changes are needed to the security guarantees, so Ukraine can be better protected if faced with additional Russian aggression. An Easter ceasefire was also discussed, which would be a signal to everyone that diplomacy can succeed.

Pro-Russia narrative

Zelenskyy's call for an Easter ceasefire is just a PR stunt and is not intended to achieve real peace. Rather than these short-term gimmicks, Ukraine should take the steps discussed in negotiations that would lead to meaningful progress towards the settlement of the conflict.
