Ordering agents to open cases on people whose only offense was legal protest and reminding neighbors of their rights turns the FBI into a political enforcement arm. Leadership admitting a directive is unconstitutional and plowing ahead anyway is the exact abuse of power the First Amendment exists to stop. Pulling analysts off drug trafficking and violent crime to chase innocent protesters demands further investigation.
Obstructing authorities, and spitting and throwing punches at officers are crimes. Tipping off targets to impede an arrest is interference with law enforcement, not political speech under the First Amendment. This is only former employee's unverified claim, which remains unconfirmed by major outlets — it's not enough to justify a major investigation into the top of government.
