The Spin

Left narrative

Thinking through even the most far-fetched scenario is exactly what a competent government owes its citizens. Low-probability, high-consequence risks deserve attention, because ignoring them leaves a country scrambling when the unthinkable arrives. The real payoff comes from the planning itself, which exposes weak spots and sharpens readiness for cyber, missile or hybrid threats that may look nothing like the scenario studied.

Right narrative

Broadcasting invasion fantasies about the closest ally and largest trading partner is political theater that feeds public anxiety instead of calming it. The actual threat to Canadian sovereignty is homegrown: regulatory paralysis, interprovincial trade barriers, under-built pipelines and ports, and a military left hollow. Confidence comes from building, exporting and competing again, not from imagined tanks at the border.
