The Spin

Democratic narrative

The economy has completely flatlined under President Donald Trump's watch. Employment growth has stalled since he announced his "Liberation Day" tariffs in April and gas prices have skyrocketed in just the past 17 days because of his reckless war with Iran. This economic disaster is the exact opposite of the golden age Trump promised.

Republican narrative

The labor market remains fundamentally strong with unemployment holding steady and wages rising. Manufacturing productivity is growing at its fastest pace in two decades, while temporary factors distorted February's numbers. The economy only needs 16,000 jobs monthly to maintain stability and it's exceeding that target.
