US Extends Visa Ban on Palestinian Officials Ahead of UN General Assembly

Palestinian officials have once again failed to live up to their commitments to the U.S. by bypassing direct negotiations to seek unilateral recognition, as well as by internationalizing the conflict through the ICC and the ICJ. Palestinian officials have also failed to cease payments to terrorists and continue to glorify acts of terrorism in public statements and school textbooks. The U.S. is entitled to impose these consequences in its national interest.

Anti-Trump narrative

By hosting the U.N., the U.S. is obligated to respect the rights of all those invited to the body's meetings. The U.S. cannot unilaterally impose exceptions or conditions on these obligations and by doing so, it's violating the U.N.'s headquarters agreement. Furthermore, seeking self-determination and justice through international courts is entirely legitimate under international law. Meanwhile, the U.S. has not imposed any restrictions on Israeli officials, though they are accused of war crimes and other international law violations.
