The Spin

Anti-Trump narrative

A ribbon-cutting for a mill that might make steel in 2030 does nothing for families choosing between gas and groceries right now. Splashy projections stretched over a decade and inflated investment totals are political theater, not an economic plan, and the collapsed Foxconn deal shows how these promises end. Tariffs propping up the pitch are taxes on American manufacturers, paid at checkout.

Pro-Trump narrative

Landing the largest steel mill in American history is exactly the kind of win that rebuilds a domestic industrial base gutted by decades of offshoring. Millions of tons of homegrown flat steel means secure supply chains for defense and infrastructure, plus permanent high-paying careers that let young workers stay and buy homes. Competitive tax rates and less red tape are why this investment happened.
