The Spin

Pro-Trump narrative

A lifetime appointment should not turn into a lifetime of betrayal. Justices handed the seat of a lifetime owe the country the originalist backbone they promised in those confirmation hearings, not a slow drift toward the bloc that never budges. When nominees picked to restore constitutional limits keep siding against the agenda voters elected, on issues like birthright citizenship and mail-in voting, the disappointment is more than earned.

Anti-Trump narrative

Judges owe loyalty to the Constitution, not to the man who nominated them, and the demand for personal allegiance from the bench shows a stunning misunderstanding of what courts are for. The grievance is also wildly out of proportion to a winning record that includes emergency docket victories north of 70%. Treating every loss as treachery only corrodes the one institution standing between power and abuse.
