The Spin

Anti-Trump narrative

A president sitting on market-moving power has no business owning individual stocks, and 1,156 trades in a single month makes that obvious. Trades in firms like SpaceX and RTX that depend on federal contracts and regulation create an unavoidable conflict, especially with no blind trust and a signature on the disclosure form. Every modern president managed to avoid this, and Trump must be held accountable.

Pro-Trump narrative

Trump's trading volume and pattern are consistent with direct-indexing strategies used by wealthy investors. Independent managers control the accounts through automated models. Neither Trump nor his family can influence the trades. Nobody sits in the Oval Office day trading on a phone.
