The Spin

Pro-establishment narrative

Justice means a lawfully confirmed death sentence for an admitted mass killer. Endless delay cheats victims' families and weakens faith in military law. The harshest crimes merit the harshest lawful punishment.

Establishment-critical narrative

Capital punishment is inhumane and incompatible with a genuinely pro-life ethic. An irreversible sentence cannot be justified while wrongful convictions and botched executions remain possible. State-sanctioned killing has no place in a civilized justice system.
