The Spin

Narrative A

The résumé that Woods possesses is about as good as it can get for a professional golfer. But the latest off-course incident, following a string of similar instances over the years, is now raising serious questions about his legacy. It is irresponsible for someone in his position to be placing himself in these kinds of situations.

Narrative B

While it's good for Woods that he's stepping away and concentrating on his health, as that's exactly what he needs, it raises questions about where it leaves the sport of golf. For decades, it has relied on his stardom to generate profits and ratings. However, it's probably time to recognize that Woods is no longer capable of that role and that the sport has to move in a new direction.
