The U.K. government takes the scourge of violence against women and girls with the utmost seriousness. That is why it has committed to utilizing the full power of the state to address this national crisis, whether it be by funding the creation of specialist police teams or educational programs to root out misogyny in schools, to halve the occurrence of horrendous crimes like these within a decade.
If the government is serious about tackling violence against women and girls in the country, then it must do more. Currently, the infrastructure is lacking, with help centers turning away 65% of people seeking assistance, while community services can only support half of those who come forward. Pledges and commitments will do little, therefore, until these systemic challenges are dealt with.
