Is Amish Shah a grassroots champion for Arizona's 1st District or a repeat candidate handing the GOP an easy win?

The Spin

Democratic narrative

Amish Shah's primary win proves grassroots organizing beats D.C. money and establishment endorsements every time. Shah, an ER doctor and former state rep, is exactly the kind of independent voice Arizona's 1st District needs to fight rising costs and extreme cuts to health care. Jay Feely switched districts because Trump told him to — that's not leadership, that's a rubber stamp.

Republican narrative

Shah lost to Schweikert in 2024 and now Democrats are rolling him out again in a true toss-up district — a gift to the GOP. Shah's far-left record on taxes, health care and immigration is a liability in a district Trump already won. Jay Feely has the name recognition, Trump's backing and a far stronger path to victory than a two-time candidate with radical positions.
