The Spin

Republican narrative

Following multiple assassination attempts against President Trump, securing the White House isn't a luxury; it's essential. Senate Republicans, therefore, are right to push for $1 billion in Secret Service funding to shore up the building's defenses as part of a broader reconciliation bill that crucially also strengthens federal law enforcement and border security.

Democratic narrative

This funding proposal is nothing short of a disgrace. While ordinary families are struggling with rising grocery bills and gas prices, the Republicans want to funnel an additional $1 billion into Trump's ballroom vanity project, while spending even more money on ICE and Border Patrol, instead of committing to initiatives that would help the American people.
